Swimming Pools

Yes, we do build pools, including all the supporting and retaining walls, pool surrounds, the patio areas, pergolas and of course the hidden areas such as pump rooms and pool storage areas. Rather than us telling you what we can do, read what Alan and Janette have to say about us.

In 2008, we had an unnecessarily difficult house build, mainly because of our builder’s indifferent attitude to the quality and the so-called project management of our house (largely down to us) . We were therefore determined to find another builder to build us a swimming pool, who would take both the time to discuss matters and provide a high quality product, without the stress.

We were recommended to contact Ben at Vamos Villas who came to see us to discuss our needs and who also took the time to show us examples of his work. We would not be over-emphasing the fact that we were ‘knocked out’ by the quality of his work and his attention to detail. He clearly went the extra mile to provide not only what his customers wanted, but also to satisfy his own very high standards of workmanship.

We were then introduced to an architect that he uses and she came to our land to work out what would work best on our difficult sloping site. We also asked if an unusual shaped pool was possible and were told this was no problem.

After agreeing to plans, Ben started work and said that it would take 3 months to complete, which it did. During this time it was clear that the teams doing their particular part knew what they were doing and have worked hard to achieve a finish that is outstanding. At all times the work was overseen by Ben and the initial construction was further project managed by a very experienced and well respected foreman.

Three weeks from the end of the build, we asked Ben to quote us for two substantial retaining walls either side of the pool that we were considering having done in 2010. He came back to us and told us that if he retained his stonemasons currently on site after the stonework for the pool, everything would be finished at the same time the pool construction was completed. This had the added benefit of causing us no extra disruption at a later date and also preventing continued soil erosion, which our last builder was happy to leave us with.

All paperwork was undertaken by Ben, who also helped us to change the electricity into our name. He also took the time to take us to choose our pool tiles at various shops and also the stonework and paving for the outside.

The quality and proportion of our swimming pool matches our house and surrounding area perfectly, thanks to Ben’s continuing ideas about what would look best to. He even built us a storeroom, electrics and all, as a no-cost extra! His suggestions were great - but he always made it clear that decisions and choices were ours and that we were involved throughout.

We are very happy to recommend Ben and are confident that he will build whatever it is you want to a high quality with the care and attention that is expected throughout. He also restored our faith that there are builders in Crete who care about what they build and how they build it.
